City of Leduc

The City of Leduc, in partnership with GFL and Prairie Robotics, implemented an automated waste audit system to reduce contamination in their organics stream as part of their Environmental Action Plan.

By utilizing Prairie Robotics’ technology to conduct nearly 50,000 automated audits and send over 1,000 personalized educational postcards, the City successfully reduced contamination by 50%, lowering it from 20% to 9%.

Building on this success, Leduc introduced escalated education, including a “Third Strike Letter” for repeat offenders, to further their waste reduction goals and improve circular economy practices.
