The City of East Lansing partnered with Prairie Robotics and The Recycling Partnership (TRP) to implement a fully automated education platform to reduce contamination and increase participation in their recycling program. During a six-month study, the City conducted 50,000 audits and sent over 1,800 personalized postcards, resulting in a 22.5% reduction in contamination and an 18% increase in the value of recyclables per ton. Additionally, Prairie Robotics’ data-driven insights enabled the City to engage households that rarely set out their recycling carts, increasing participation by 28% after targeted mailers. This initiative highlights the effectiveness of Prairie Robotics' technology in reducing contamination and boosting recycling efforts.
